Jean-François Moriceau & Petra Mrzyk - The World Is Not Enough

 For the JOINT VENTURES series of projects various artists groups are invited to realize and present their projects at Schnitt Ausstellungsraum. In a time of fusions and networking, artists are also searching for active cooperation in order to share knowledge and bundle their energies. Different interests, methods and approaches are integrated into each other, while artists enter into temporary or long-term partnerships.
Just as Robert Filiou intended to write "a poem a day" Jean-François Moriceau & Petra Mrzyk produce almost one drawing per minute. This also brings to mind the Surreallist "écriture automatique" technique because the drawings seem so light and spontanious. In this spirit, an artists book with the title "Trois fois plus" was produced with 148 loosely combined photo copies of DIN A4-sized drawings. Certain motif and subjects constantly reoccur in the black ink drawings which are structured into a continuing transformation through the book. It produces processes of movement, writing and typography which are multiply varied and playfully investigated on the basis of their graphic qualities. The single pages often remind one of classical studies (of movemet). In a logical continuation of this thought, the drawings are animated almost like cartoons, showing each drawing's potential and ability for transformation all the more. The presentation "The World Is Not Enough" at Schnitt Ausstellungsraum presents numerous works which will be directly wallpapered in the sense of being "all over" like a projection of animated drawings. Even though certain motifs and text constantly reoccur, there is still no main theme. Each drawing has its own story and their large number lets the viewer link them at will as if in a meandering pattern.

studied at the art academy in Quimper and Nantes (F), work together since 1998 and live in Nantes.
